H&M Beach Sensation Collection

As temperatures soar in Dubai, I spent most of the weekend enjoying the sunshine at the beach. And beach weather means two things – major calorie counting whilst hitting the gym and indulging in some retail therapy in search of the perfect bikini. Continue reading

Kristen Cavallari’s Glass Bikini!

Not that I think that a glass bikini is at all appropriate for any occasion, I have to admit reality TV star, Kristen Cavallari, looks pretty hot as she struts her stuff down the catwalk for Miami Fashion Week Swim in a specially designed one shouldered bikini decorated with shards of glass earlier this week. The 24-year-old former Hills star showed off her enviable tanned and toned figure in the outfit designed by Diesel and inspired by the event’s sponsor Skyy Vodka.

“Getting ready for the @DieselUSA and @SKYYVodka fashion show in Miami, so excited to wear the first glass bikini” she tweeted before hitting the catwalk, which signalled the start of the fashion week.

Soraya Amaia Beachwear

Isn’t it apt that the way designer Soraya Haq and I met was when we were young and our parents saw us playing with a hose pipes outside on a gloriously hot summer day and they arrange a paddling-pool play date for us! Well fast-forward two decades and Soraya has just launched her first swimwear line.

After travelling and then working in Brazil, Soraya was inspired by by the Amazon rainforest, the waterfalls in Iguassu and especially the tropical beaches which were all breath-taking. Inspired, whilst on her travels she started sketching her own swimwear designs and after completing a swimwear design course at London College of Fashion, I decided to finally launch her collection called Soraya Amaia Beachwear.

Soraya Amaia Beachwear can be bought online at Opium Boutique and Tucano Beach.

For buying queries, contact Candy and Couture.

The one-piece and two-piece emsembles capture the Brazilian spirit beautifully in gorgeous shades to enhance your tan!

Jean Paul Gaultier for La Perla

As part of Autumn/Winter 2011 Haute Couture Fashion Week, Jean Paul Gaultier unveiled his second collection with the luxurious French lingerie label, La Perla, for Spring/Summer 2012, and this time, the range also includes swimwear as well as lingerie.

The new collection features bandage style swimwear complete with signature transparent stripes. The underwear on offer includes bondage inspired lace-up one-piece suits, transparent slips and lace-adorned bras. The collection which is both wearable and sexy, features several of Jean Paul Gaultier’s signature trademarks.

Hold your horses though – the designs won’t be available to purchase until January 2012, but we know where we’ll be getting next year’s swimwear from now!

Claudia Schiffer for Harper’s Bazaar

At 40 years old and with 24 years work in front of the camera, Claudia Schiffer proves she hasn’t lost that supermodel sparkle in a new swimwear shoot for Harper’s Bazaar.

In the new shoot, Claudia shows off the body that landed her contracts with some of the world’s biggest fashion houses and over 500 cover shoots for magazines around the globe. Despite being mother to three children, Caspar, Clementine and Cosina, the supermodel proves she is still in possession of her enviable, ultra slim figure. I am majorly jealous!

Seen in this final shot, Claudia models one of her own knitwear designs, a blue hand-knitted cardigan coat which retails at £865. Claudia is using the knowledge she’s acquired as a model to launch her own fashion line – injecting her supermodel sparkle into a range of knitwear.

The model has almost 24 years experience of working it in front of the camera, but she’s only recently taken a leap of faith to produce her own clothing line.

In the interview which accompanies the new shoot she revealed that she is confident yet very nervous about her collection. She told the magazine: ‘It’s the first time I have put my name to something. I feel very confident, but also very nervous. Who knew? Maybe it will just be me, the only person in the whole world who likes it. I’ve worked far too long in the fashion industry that I could just sell out. I always knew I wanted to do something that I would love myself, something to be proud of. And there was never a product I really loved. I’ve had a lot of friends who said I was insane. But for me, it’s not just about the money.’

The July Issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK is out on Monday June 6th.
