There’s nothing quite shoes that turns me on. I honestly am obsessed with them. And once in a while I come across a new shoe designer that makes me giddy with excitement and that’s just what happened when I discovered Liam Fahy.
Born in Zimbabwe and raised amongst African stone sculptors, musicians, painters and weavers, Liam’s creative foundation was ultimately laid in this environment. Whilst studying Art and Psychology in Africa, Liam chose to pursue his passion for creativity by taking a year off and living in the remote valleys of the Zambezi river with the Batonka tribe – a complete hiatus from modernity. On his return, Liam enrolled to study Footwear at the renowned De Montfort University in England.
Liam has several prestigious awards to his name. Whilst at university, he was awarded the Linea-Pelle Footwear Design Award in Italy and the Draper’s Footwear Designer of the Year Award in London for his conceptual based designs. He was also awarded the first ever Fashion Fringe Accessory Award judged by none other than shoe supremo, Manolo Blahnik, Colin McDowel and the British Fashion Council.
Liam honed his craft whilst living with Rupert Sanderson in Italy and working at his legendary factory where he learnt the secrets of Italian craftmenship and design. The results as you can see from Liam’s current collection are truly breathtaking.
Available online directly, Liam Fahy shoes will be a name not to be forgotten. Expect some big things in 2012.
