Fashion Meets Ballet

Ever since Black Swan the marriage of ballet and fashion has come more into the spotlight. This year, the English National Ballet has invited top fashion designers to create tutus exclusively for it’s annual Summer Party on June 29th at The Orangery, Kensington Palace to auction live on the night.

The list of designers working on this project is straight out of a couture dream;  Agent Provocateur, Kinder Aggugini, Jacques Azagury, Giles Deacon, Erdem, Roksanda Ilincic, Julien Macdonald, Moschino and House of Worth. Each designer has chosen a dancer from the Company to inspire their creation and on the night of the party, the dancers will model the tutus in a catwalk show, before they go on display for guests to bid on in a silent auction.

Not content with just designer tutus, the shoes for the fashion show are being designed by Christian Louboutin and Beatrix Ong, and Wright & Teague and Natasha Zinko will design tiaras for the auction!  Tickets for the event can be purchased directly from the English National Ballet’s website.

  1. I love you for posting this! I’m doing my final art piece based on the black swan sort of thing and i’m designing and creating a dress and stuff ❤ Mind if I steal this? hehe

    • Im a dance photographer looking to merge dance and fashion. Seeking a designer who may like to collaborate on future projects. Have also done a black swan inspired photo-shoot, have a look on my website. xx

  2. What an interesting project. Beatrix Ong’s tutu & heels combo above reminds us that Paris Opera Ballet principal dancer Marie-Agnes Gillot admitted in an interview showing up to a cocktail party dressed up in her practice tutu. So stylish!
