Tata Naka Spring/Summer 2012

If you’re looking for a floral explosion this season, look no further than Tata Naka.

The Spring/Summer collection is inspired by the work of the late Pina Bausch and how she combined movement and colour. The collection features the designers’ trademark shapes, silhouttes and prints in a combination of sugary colours and fabrics such as georgette, cotton imprimé, jacquard and woven silk – perfect for summer!!

The collection is available now at S*UCE boutique!

Fishfaycing at S*uce!

I “heart” Fishfayce and this picture taken at the launch of Zayan’s Collection at S*uce a few weeks ago is one of my faves!

Pictured with blogger, Leila Najjar and fashion designer and absolute sweetheart, Tamara Al Gabbani, the event was full of delights – both fashion and tasty ones! Good times with good friends <3

I am such a shutterbug. If I’m not snapping away on my camera, I’m using my blackberry to capture pictures. In this first edition of “The Blackberry Archive”, I take you through the lens of my blackberry on some of the people, places and goodies I have come across, like that stunning Aila bag (above) that I found at S*UCE boutique. Designer Spotlight: Osman Yousefzada

I was looking in my wardrobe yesterday and I felt uninspired. You know when you have one of those ‘Meh’ days and nothing looks right or feels right and you just want something to uplift you. Well the fashion fairies spoke to me. Okay, it was one of the PR people who send me tonnes of press releases, but to me they are the bearers of good tidings on most days! Anyway, up popped an email containing information on the collection from Osman Yousefzada for Autumn/Winter 2011 collection and a little flicker of inspiration was lit.

Osman’s collection is replete as with fuzzy screen-printed velvets, bouclé, matelassé, brocade, and jacquard fabric makes it one of the richest for the season. And then there is the use of colour. The collections base palette of white and black and brackish gold is punctuated with bolts of red, hot pink, lime, turquoise, and a whole panoply of oranges which compliment his signature blue colour beautifully.

Osman’s precision, cut and approach reflect a feeling of minimal, modern yet whimsical luxury for Autumn/Winter. Just what you need when the weather’s got you feeling a little blue.

Shop Osman’s collection internationally as it is stocked at S*UCE boutique in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Browns, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols in the UK, Fred Segal in the US, Podium in Russia, 4 Kuwait in Kuwait, J Boutique in Bahrain, Mahat Boutique and Amna Group in Saudi Arabia and Aishti in Lebanon.

An Eye on a Bag: Aila

If there’s been a handbag collection from an independent designer that has made my pulse race to stratospheric levels this year, the collection from AILA has to be it. It’s candy coloured arm candy!!

Using original designs and fabrics from vintage cloth, exquisite leathers, along with high-standard traditional craftsmanship, AILA is brought to light, a love for style uniqueness and luxurious creativity. Lebanon-based label AILA, was founded by Amal Khourshid who before indulging in her passion for fashion, majored in Finance and Economics. While still working in investments, she designed her perfect python clutch. And the story began…

After the great success and attention the clutch received, and after realising her bag obsession, Amal was inspired to share her dream. Feminine, glamorous and sophisticated, these are all qualities innate of the AILA woman.

Candy coloured handbags that make my heart ache! And bag colours can be custom-ordered to suit your preference – how amazing is that!?

AILA bags are available at S*UCE boutique in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as well as online though Goji Boutique. Alternatively, you can get in touch through the Facebook page for custom orders.

I need an AILA bag in my life now…and I’m kinda crushed on the spiked bow clutch. Sigh…

One to Watch: Reemami

I remember coming across designer, Reemami, in an issue of Grazia magazine in Dubai back in March and instantly fell in love with the individuality of this designer. That and the fact that I’m sure the pictures of her Spring 2011 collection were shot in the funfair at Mirdiff where I’ve spent one or two hysterical nights acting like a 6-year-old!

Reemami is an eclectic, bold and playful fashion brand based out of Dubai. It was set up by designer, Reema AlBanna, a young designer who trained at the prestigious French Fashion institute, ESMOD. A brand for the young, and equally young at heart, Reemami’s ethos is fun, optimism, positivity and creativity – something which shines through her collection which is both fashion forward and super stylish.

I love the red “Ladybird” jacket from this collection and the blue “Missy” Pucci-esque dress.

Reemami is available at S*UCE boutique and Valleydez in Wafi.

Seher loves Sparkle: Kahramana

Who doesn’t like jewellery? As a self-confessed magpie, I absolutely love a little sparkle and the designs from UAE-based designer, Samar Said for her brand Kahramana are just the kind I would gladly add to my ever-growing collection of unique jewellery pieces.

Kahramana’s philosophy is that “catchy designs shouldn’t be imitations but true creations!” I couldn’t agree more. I love nothing more that wearing something, whether it is shoes, clothing or jewellery that has a story behind it and that is exactly what you get with these designs.

Samar takes inspirations for her exquisite designs from the cross Mediterranean-Arab region’s multi-faceted forms of art & culture. She also introduces a new take on modern & funky designs influenced by the urban ambience and trends.

The Andalusian Nostalgia Collection released especially for Ramadan features the eight point star inspired from Al-Andalus, offers different styles in the form of keys, charm pendants, oversized earrings, mesbaha  (beads) and bracelets.

In addition, the Mizayana Collection,a Tunisian word meaning a beautiful charming lady, has also been released to commemarate Eid. Mizyana is a Tunisian term was chosen as Samar’s inspirations for the Khamsa & Evil-Eye designs came mainly from the Tunisian Culture. Offering a wide array of designs, styles & sizes, the Mizyana collection includes a Khamsa key, Evil Eye key, Khamsa wrapped ring, Khamsa wi Khemesa necklace & earrings and mesbaha.

For more pictures of designs, visit the Kahramana Facebook page.

Both these stunning collections are available now at S*uce Boutique in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Marami at Dubai Mall and also at Ginger & Lace in Wafi and Ibn Battuta Mall.

For international orders, you can buy online at Urban Souq and Aura-B.
