Fashion Spotlight: Mila Kunis

Actress, Mila Kunis has been setting the red carpet on fire on the promotional tour for her new movie “Friends with Benefits”. She was pictured at the New York  premiere in a stunning Lanvin red dress from the Resort 2012 Collection.

Continuing on the promotional trail, Mila was pictured in Moscow, Russia, in a breathtaking Elie Saab Couture dress from the designers Fall/Winter 2011 collection.

Mila paired her beautiful dress with a pair of skyscraper heels for Elie’s range.

Mila is definitely one to watch!

Marchesa Resort 2012

I absolutely LOVE Marchesa. Its one of the first designers I run up to see whenever I am in Harrods. The Resort collection from Marchesa is fit for a princess – a mixture of refinement and restraint with femininity and poise. Soft pastels and citrus colours, coral and peppermint and white provide a myriad of colour whilst a pop of deep teal silks and the odd pop of fuschia complete the collection.

While Marchesa reached absolute high notes in their romance with floor-length chiffon for the Resort collection, they didn’t leave the cocktail hour unaccounted for. A metallic mini and some knee-length versions of their sweeping gowns are statements that are youthful, but without forsaking their Princessly grace. Absolutely stunning!

BCBG Max Axria Resort 2012

The Resort collection for 2012 from BCBG Max Azria takes inspiration from seventies muses including Marisa Berenson and Margaux Hemingway. This is evident in the free-flowing silhouettes and intricate hand embroidery of the pieces in the collection, yet it is still modern and beautiful. Think free spirit and ethereal styles and that’s what you get. A fashionable dream.

Reem Acra Resort 2012

Reem Acra’s Resort collection for 2012 takes inspiration from her love of nature by offering a garden of vibrant evening dresses. Voluminous, tiered silk and organza gowns in yellow daffodil, red rose, and purple iris resemble flower petals unfolding. Reem has adorned many of them with crystal-encrusted rose brooches, a layer of netting decked with tulle rosettes, or papier mâché-esque buds.

A collection fit for a princess.

Versace Resort 2012

Donatella Versace has sunk herself into the house archives to produce the grommeted, bustiered, scarf-hemlined and exposed-zippered Versace Resort 2012 collection. After the exuberant flashbacks of her Fall 2011 collection, Donatella this time around turned her hand to the exotic hothouse prints that were in full bloom back in the mid-nineties.

Model Daphne Groeneveld looks nothing short of stunning in the look book. Taking a few tips from late brother, Gianni, Donatella has produced a collection which is very, very Versace. I feel like I’ve gone back in time – Love it.

When I was growing up, I always wanted a Versace dress. I think its time to invest in one.

Matthew Williamson Resort 2012

Inspired by the art and culture of the Far East for his latest Resort collection, Matthew Williamson borrows motifs from traditional Japanese painting for its prints and shapes from the Japanese wardrobe for its styles. Loose, kimono-like dresses are banded with belts resembling traditional obis, though these gleam in metallic. Landscape prints influenced by classical Japanese watercolors are modernized with the subtle addition of cityscape elements—skyscrapers inserted among the blossoming trees. Florals play a large part in the collection too, whether sequin-encrusted and scattered over shifts, flattened into prints, or knit into patterns on long intarsia dresses and skirts.

A gorgeous array of colour and textures. My favourite pieces have to be the cobalt long-sleeved gown, floral print kimono and the turquoise lace dress! So fabulous!

Emilio Pucci Resort 2012

Pucci is one of the brands that I admire for delivering a certain “WOW” factor every season. Under Peter Dundas’ hand, the brand has become sultrier and sexier than ever, but the Resort collection for 2012 is slightly more relaxed and much more day-wearable.

The collection sees the launch of the denim line which features super-skinny, brightly colored jeans. There is also a lot of focus of on tailoring; specifically shrunken schoolboy pantsuits shown with sweet Peter Pan-collared cotton voile shirts. A jacket in a zebra pattern updated from the archives worn with blue jeans is also one of my favourite pieces.

Sheer kaftans, lace and plenty of colour make up this gorgeous collection. Roll on 2012. The fashion we are seeing so far is amazing!

Carlos Miele Resort 2012

Hands down, Brazilian designer Carlos Miele makes some of the best gowns I have ever tried on. He just knows how to shape a dress to a woman. I remember the first time I tried on one of his dresses – I honestly felt like a princess.

For his Resort 2012 collection Carlos Miele looked to Rio de Janeiro in the 1970′s for inspiration. The collection features plenty of his signature, high-spirited gowns like the cobalt blue halter dress with puckered silk fuxico detail below, but also some great daywear pieces too. Two-tone palazzo pants with a high waist and a slick denim suit with flared trousers pay homage to ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and are totally bad-ass! I also love the white crepe jumpsuit and I need that coral playsuit in my closet – perfect with heels or at the beach.

A collection full of colour – I love!!

Erin Fetherston Resort 2012

Erin Fetherston Resort 2012
Erin Fetherston’s first resort collection for her recently launched, ERIN line, is a plethora of delicate party dresses. Ethereal and romantic, it is a collection that leaves me feeling all girly and giddy. The set that the look book was shot at complements the clothing’s effervescence, with model Wang Xiao blowing bubbles and playing with dozens of jumbo-sized balloons.

My favourite piece is the strapless “petal dress”. With tiers of pleated ruffles, this is a similar dress to the one created for her namesake line a few seasons back, but tweaked the materials to accommodate her new, lower price point. And with the majority of pieces hitting at around $375 and under, these gorgeous dresses are priced to sell out fast!

Don’t forget that Erin’s collection is available to purchase in Dubai at one of our favourite boutiques, Symphony.

Missoni Resort 2012

Patterns and a kaleidoscope of colours. It’s what Missoni does best season after season and the Resort Collection for 2012 is just that! This entire collection makes me want to fast forward through fall so I can shop some of the gorgeous pieces it has to offer. It literally has everything; from coloured trousers to maxi dresses, shorts to knitwear, jackets to jumpsuits! I just wish I could carry off a turban as well as the models!
