Event season has well and truly kicked off in Dubai and last night I went to Saks Fifth Avenue at Burjuman for the Face of Toby by Hatem Alakeel event. There will be a full post on the event coming up soon, but I couldn’t help treat you to a few snapshots taken with my awesome new Canon IXUS 125. Continue reading
The Supers are back! Eva Herzigova, Helena Christenson and Claudia Schiffer dazzle in the Star Collection by Dolce & Gabbana on the cover of Vogue Spain. I honestly cannot get enough of this print. Must have a fix of it in my closet this season.
Supermodel, Gisele Bundchen celebrates her 31st birthday today. Pictured here in a stunning Pre-Fall Oscar de la Renta as she attends the 39th AFI Life Achievement Award Honoring Morgan Freeman in Los Angeles last month, she dazzles in the silver gown. Her look is completed with a shocking pink bow belt and Raven Kauffman Couture clutch and Jack Vartanian jewellery.
Currently ranked No.1 as the “Top Model Icon of All Time” at models.com, Gisele is the highest earning model on the planet. We kinda ‘heart’ her!
Happy Birthday Gisele!

In an age obsessed with youth and beauty, Carmen Dell’Orefice is a welcome reminder that the two are not inextricably linked. The veteran model this weekend celebrated her 80th birthday as she continues to be a hit on the catwalk. The style icon and birthday girl has been modelling ever since she got on the cover of Vogue in 1946 at 15 years old.
A true inspiration to growing old gracefully and with a tonne of class – a role model to admire.
Vogue Italia has cast three plus-sized models to grace the cover of the June issue – the first time a “plus-sized” model has landed a Vogue Italia cover since 2000!
Editor Franca Sozzani recently dedicated a section of the Vogue Italia website to “curvy” women, and now she has selected models Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley for the cover shot which was photographed by Steven Meisel. Channeling the supermodels of the 90’s, the models are kitted out in sexy lingerie and captured in stunning black & white shots. Recently, Sozzani said: “Why should these women slim down? Many of the women who have a few extra kilos are especially beautiful and also more feminine.” Now she is proving that she means what she says by placing these more curvaceous models on the cover. Finally fashion for real women!
When it comes to style, models have an advantage over the rest of us. They are already surrounded by great inspiration and outfitted in awe-inspiring outfits daily from the hottest designers in the world. Hell, they probably get the clothes for free! It would be easy to put their own stylistic efforts down to being surrounded by current fashion so frequently, but some of these models draw their inspiration from other sources – their own personal style icon who they look up to.
In a recent piece featured in Net-A-Porter’s current online magazine, Karlie Kloss states that Christy Turlington, as well as Audrey Hepburn are her style icons. She says “I think they are the most classically beautiful women in the world”. She describes her own style as “simple, classic, chic”. I agree!
Georgia May Jagger cites her own mother, model Jerry Hall, as her personal style icon. Georgia, who usually favours the designs of British designers such as Vivienne Westwood says about her mother’s style: “She’s got lots of crazy ball gown dresses with bustles.” Wouldn’t you like to have a vintage closet like that to raid too?!
Kate Moss has always drawn comparisons to beautiful gap-toothed model Brigitte Bardot, especially when it comes to their style. Kate, who has previously admitted she is inspired by Bardot, can often be seen channeling classic Parisian chic, complete with Breton stripes or sharp tailoring, not forgetting that sex kitten aura that both seem to emanate.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Russian beauty Natalia Vodianova states that Audrey Hepburn is her style icon. She explains “Audrey Hepburn – for her pure femininity and integrity. She managed to be both strong and fragile, and allowed us to see her layers of vulnerability. She was always herself and a lovely person.”
Madonna may seem like an unlikely style icon for Naomi Campbell, but she insists that it’s Madonna’s ability to transform that she finds so inspiring. Naomi, whose personal style exudes sheer sophistication and luxury says she admires the ever-changing Madonna: “I think my style icons are people who reinvent themselves – they come back with a different look, a different vibe, a different sound and Madonna is definitely one of those people. It’s just amazing to watch her through all these decades-she just keeps coming back.”

We’ve been spoilt for choice with celebs on the red carpet at the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival. I have to admit that every day I swoon over the couture gowns by the world’s leading designers, but I love nothing more than seeing them on celebrities. Do they do them justice? Take a look and see.
