It’s funny when people start to question what it is I do. Am I a blogger? Am I an event planner? Am I a writer? Am I a PR consultant? Truth be told I am all of the above and much more. No two days in my life are ever the same and that’s what keeps me motivated. One day I maybe writing a press release for one client and the next organising a fashion show for another. It’s this variety that I love!

PSF Fashion Show at Blue Marlin Ibiza
At 16 years old Dubai’s Pintsized Fashionistas have accomplished so much and this weekend was just another reason why I adore the twins Saanieh and Alizey Mirza as they hosted the PSF Resort 2013 Collection Fashion Show as part of Blue Marlin Ibiza’s “Fashion Weekend”. The party started early and went on until they switched the flood lights on! Continue reading

Swarvoski Elements: Exclusive Interview with Houida Al-Baridi
Dubai is due to host the most spectacular event of the social calendar this Wednesday, with the first ever SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS ‘Sense of Two’ fashion show in the Middle East. This unique fashion event will showcase the talent of designers from the UAE, KSِِA, Kuwait and Bahrain in a themed designed to evoke the designers’ dual creative sides, hence the name ‘Sense of Two’. This year the show has challenged its design partners to create two fashion-forward garments incorporating SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and expressing the theme of two contrasting sides of their inner selves.
One of the incredibly talented designers taking part in the show is Syrian designer, Houida Al-Bairidi, and I was incredibly honoured to interview her last week about her inspirations and to try to find out about the show.

Elie Saab Couture 2011
Everyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for a couture gown. I honestly feel there should be more occasions to wear couture, although not to just pop down to the shops for a pint of milk and a loaf of bread – Yes I did this after a wedding once in Dubai. The dress was Cavalli and I looked hysterically funny running down the aisles in my gown and heels on the hunt for a pint of semi-skimmed milk!
Elie Saab’s couture collections always take feminine elegance to new heights and the Fall 2011 show was no exception. Sticking to delicate tones of ivory, bronze and gray, Saab’s gowns were adorned with Swarovski crystals and sequins which truly made the dramatic silhouettes and plunging necklines sparkle. Adding lace-works to the runway in the form of flirty skirts and dresses; the collection contained wearable options to offset the sumptuous glamour. Now I just need more excuses to wear couture!

Video: Roberto Cavalli F/W 2011 Fashion Show
Grab some popcorn and watch the masterpiece that is Roberto Cavalli’s F/W 2011 Fashion show.
Roberto Cavalli conceives fashion as a total experience. The style he proposes is not merely a way of dressing, but a way of being: a lifestyle. His is an intangible and highly aspirational dream. I am such a ‘Cavalli’ girl!
For The Love of a Lace Dress
I’m a sucker for a lace dress. I went positively gaga when Issa launched their capsule collection for Net-A-Porter and am still distraught I didn’t get my hands on one even though I harassed every person I knew at the company to sort me out with one. Alas, I haven’t given up yet, but have been scouring stores worldwide for more lace dresses to add to my ever-growing collection. I currently have 4 and I can’t seem to shake my addiction to them.
My latest obsession is this red lace one from Mango. Part of the A/W 2011 collection, the dress is both exquisite in style and allure. The detailing and hue merge to give a stunning result that’s left me lusting after the piece.
If you didn’t get a chance to see the Mango A/W 2011 Fashion Show, watch it here now.
The collection features a timeless and chic wardrobe with versatile items that can be worn throughout the day and night. Elaborate detailing includes glitter, gold, Swarovski crystals and sequins, which are applied to a range of fabrics, including wool, denim and bouclé. I also cannot wait to get my hands on this gorgeous dress!
