Karen Millen A/W 2011 Collection

I refuse to fall into a depression over Fall fashion. I really am not a winter girl! I don’t even own a coat since my last one went walkabout. I’m actually serious. I bought a gorgeous black coat at the beginning of last year, left it in London and when I came back from Dubai, it had suddenly disappeared. On a search for the perfect coat for winter this year, I came across the Fall look book from Karen Millen and have to admit I am pleasantly surprised. Not only do they have some gorgeous coats, but there are some pieces in the collection that look like they have come straight off the catwalks of Paris and Milan!

There are definitely a few pieces that I would invest in for the season including the blue trench coat and black leather dress. And those booties are a must-have addition to my closet! The collection is in stores now and available online.

Mango City Wear Collection

Highstreet retailer, Mango, is one of my favourite places to shop for bang up to date trends straight from the catwalk without the designer price tag. Models Anna Jagodzinska, Jourdan Dunn and Ming Xi take to the urban streets for Mango’s “City Wear” collection which includes a mix of denim, eye-catching prints and comfy knits.

Ten Things I’d Relive: Full Moon Party at Nasimi

Never has a beach party been more fun! A night out at Atlantis’ Nasimi Beach almost 2 years ago (wow how time flies!) with my special girls is just what the doctor ordered. Nimati was proposed to, someone dropped an entire jug of bullfrog on my white wedge sandals which never recovered by the way and somehow we ended up painting a guy’s finger nails a gorgeous red colour! Fun times!

10 Things I’d Relive: Monday Night Madness

If you are on twitter, the past 2 days “10 Things I’d Relive” has been trending online and this got me thinking about a few nights out over the past couple of years that I would definitely love to relive. So over the next 10 days I’ll be sharing some of my favourite memories I’d love to relive and the fashion involved.

Monday Night Madness was a permanent fixture in our summer calendar last year when the girls and I would get together and hit Mo*vida for the weekly Arabesque party. This particular Monday we ventured into Sketch pre-party and had the most hysterical time fooling around in the bathrooms. If you are ever in London, I have to recommend Sketch as having some of the funkiest bathrooms in town which are housed in egg-shaped pods. Fun times!

Designer Spotlight: Razan Alazzouni

When I can’t sleep I end up spending hours upon hours online looking at various designer websites and reading about all the latest trends in the world of fashion. It was in one of these invariable bouts of insomnia that I stumbled across designer, Razan Alazzouni. Saudi-born Razan, studied in Boston and applied her formal education in sculpture to her eponymous clothing line which is not only creative and original, but sculptural as well.

Razan’s clothing is all about exuding the femininity, delicacy and grace of the female form. She derives most of her inspiration from women themselves and their natural poise. Each piece in her collection is intended to show off its wearer in an elegant light, while maintaining a sense of playfulness as well. The use of soft luxurious textures is dominant and allows for movement in the clothes, which adds a whimsical quality to the collection. The combination of chiffon and silk lends to the idea of women as soft, ethereal beings, which only enhances their femininity.

Describing her current collection as whimsical, dreamy and feminine, this is the ultimate girly collection!

Razan’s collection is available in Jeddah at Cream and Tifa Boutique and also in Bahrain at Sufana at Moda Mall.

Orders can also be made online through Razan’s website.

Time on my Hands: Valentino Timeless Collection

One of the biggest indulgences in my family has to be watches. Every single person from my dad to my brother, is obsessed with watches! I lost my Cartier watch in Dubai almost 2 years ago and have never really recovered from that trauma (seriously I was in a depression for days!) and ever since I’ve been slowly coming to terms with the loss and what better way than shopping for a replacement!

I’ve made a vow to myself that I will replace that Cartier on my 30th birthday and with a few years yet to go until that happens, I refuse to go bare-wristed when it comes to the watch department, so I am always on the look out for new time pieces to add to my collection.

The Valentino Timeless Collection offers some MAJOR wrist candy! With three distinct designs I’m having a really hard time choosing a favourite.

The ‘Rosier‘ collection offers an unexpected yet stunning re-interpretation of the rose, Maison Valentino’s iconic flower, reproduced with a graphic silhouette on ajouré steel, inlaid just like lace and fretworked with sinuous lines. A subtle glamorous case with bright polished top ring in curved crystal sapphire is delicately placed wrapped among petals in its decentralized position. This refined watch shape appears to be suspended from the central lugs of the fine lizard leather strap, also available in various colours to match the dial.

I have never considered a red strap watch until now!

Lace, is one of the most important themes in fashion at the moment. Chantilly, macramé or Point d’esprit, the lace in tailored bon ton clothes and in the most chic, romantic, feminine accessories is transformed in a high-tech texture. The “Lace” collection made of rubber with a raised outline covers the steel of the bezel and the whole bracelet, decorating individual links with patterns which are different every time. The floral pattern is also printed on the dial, embellished by four diamond indexes, while the case is made of steel, either blackened with IP treatment or gold-plated. The colour palette includes white, black and nude: the colours that dominate the catwalks this season.

Lace on my wrist? Yes please!!

An authentic jewel watch, the “Eden” collection comes with various gemstones set on the top ring. The selection of precious gemstones is “Very Valentino”: white agate, pink coral, onyx, coral or turquoise stones are handcrafted, faceted, polished and assembled back to back on the bezel. All enhanced with steel Clou de Paris decorated or diamond illuminated indexes. More precious versions are set with additional diamonds on bezel and dial and stones on bracelet. The look is completed with an elegant strap in calf or crocodile leather and a more casual alternative is available with a steel bracelet.

I’ll take one of each please!!

The Valentino Timeless collection is available at all Valentino boutiques and in Paris Gallery at Dubai Mall.
