BCBG Max Axria Resort 2012

The Resort collection for 2012 from BCBG Max Azria takes inspiration from seventies muses including Marisa Berenson and Margaux Hemingway. This is evident in the free-flowing silhouettes and intricate hand embroidery of the pieces in the collection, yet it is still modern and beautiful. Think free spirit and ethereal styles and that’s what you get. A fashionable dream.

Style of the Week: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Last week a Twitter conversation started about our ‘girl crushes’ and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s name came up several times. The beautiful, Victoria’s Secret model, had the crowds gasping at the London screening of her debut film Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon last night when she turned up in a stunning midnight blue gown custom-made by Burberry.

Having already won the “Female Star of Tomorrow” award at the 2011 CinemaCon Awards, this girl has a bright future ahead of her in fashion and film.

An Eye on a Bag: Chanel

I die! I absolutely die! Chanel’s pre-fall collection for the latest Bergdorf Goodman catalogue has made my heart ache! The Byzantine-inspired bags are a masterpiece of regal proportions! And they probably come with a royal price tag too!

The Dior website explains: “Dior’s Fall ready-to-wear collection takes its inspiration from the legendary love affair between Mrs. Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII. English romanticism is channeled into Balmoral fringed tweeds and candy-coloured tartans with Prince of Wales checks. Ultimate luxury and expertise create evening glamour in elegant draped gowns and head to toe sequins to ensure that every head is turned.”

Last week I featured a video of Christian Dior’s Fall 2011 collection. My love affair for everything Dior began many years ago when I got my first job in Harrods and saved up my entire month’s salary for one Dior bag! Well another love affair has started to develop for me and the Lady Dior bag! Must have one soon!!

Torn by Ronny Kobo

It may not be a name that you are familiar with, so let me introduce you to one of my favourite brands, Torn by Ronny Kobo.

Launched in 2008, Torn by Ronny Kobo has shot to fame with its wearable, yet inventive designs for the “Metropolitan Girl.” T-shirts in a combination of prints offer novel conversation pieces while blazers in cool sweatshirt fabrics are expertly tailored like those from Saville Row. Kobo launched her collection as a “Designer T-shirts” line and has slowly been expanding into a full ready to wear line.

Designing high fashion pieces in the contemporary market has elevated the brand and captivated an audience that is more sophisticated than the competition. The collection is meant to be mixed and matched, evoking the customer’s individuality.

I love the gold dress featured in the summer look book and am a sucker for T-shirts so will definitely be getting some of them to add to my collection.

Look Book: Tom Ford A/W 2011

Four words: Tom Ford Look Book!!! I’ve actually just got off the phone with one of my clients (and close friend), Ramin Maher, who is a HUGE admirer of Tom Ford’s design and all I kept saying was “OMG! OMG!!” The entire collection is full on glamour! Honestly, I’m blown away!

Not known to do anything by halves, Tom Ford’s collection is as far from basic, as far from casual as it gets. Now I just need to be able to afford it!!

Versace: Bright Crystal Campaign

South African model, Candice Swanepoel, is the new face of the Versace fragrance ‘Bright Crystal’. Photographed here by Mario Testino, Candice is the epitome of glamour in a couture Versace intricately designed white gown. So beautiful.

Hailee Steinfeld for Miu Miu

Photographer by Bruce Weber, American actress Hailee Steinfeld poses for Miu Miu’sFall 2011 campaign.

The 14-year-old actress, who bagged an Oscar nomination for her role in True Grit, was one of the past award season’s red carpet favorites, wearing everything from Prabal Gurung to Alberta Ferretti, but mostly opting for Prada’s younger sister label Miu Miu. When she made a front row appearance at the brand’s runway show in March, many were already speculating about her becoming its new face.

Steinfeld follows in the footsteps of other quirky actresses such as Maggie Gyllenhaal and Kirsten Dunst, who also starred in the campaigns, as well as Carey Mulligan, who has been closely associated with Prada recently.

Eva Mendes for Thierry Mugler

Hands down I think Eva Mendes is one of the most beautiful women in the world. The 37-year-old actress has been chosen by French fashion and beauty house Thierry Mugler to replace Naomi Watts in the campaign for its Angel fragrance.

“While Naomi Watts’ ethereal beauty embodied the angelic aspect of the fragrance, Thierry Mugler chose to reignite the enticing and explosive dimensions of the fragrance with the sultry Mendes,” Mugler said in a statement.

She looks absolutely stunning!!

Video: Roberto Cavalli F/W 2011 Fashion Show

Grab some popcorn and watch the masterpiece that is Roberto Cavalli’s F/W 2011 Fashion show.

Roberto Cavalli conceives fashion as a total experience. The style he proposes is not merely a way of dressing, but a way of being: a lifestyle. His is an intangible and highly aspirational dream. I am such a ‘Cavalli’ girl!
